The Excellence Awards winners are chosen from six categories: website, advertising & marketing, video and podcast, apps & mobile, social media, and printing. Each category then further includes themes ranging from activism to health and beauty, fitness, sports, travel, and so on. These winners inspire millions to think out of the box through their work and innovative approach. How to Communicate Within a Remote Team Members

Over the last few years, the world of work has completely transformed. Gone are the days when everyone is in the same office every day – this has all been replaced by a hybrid/remote environment where most of our communication happens virtually. While some attribute this solely to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, in truth – it was a trend that we’ve seen coming for a long time.
With this new paradigm of remote work, we’ve all had to learn how to best communicate so that we can still maintain the camaraderie and collaboration that is required to deliver on what customers expect. In this article, we’ll take a brief look at some of the key components of effective remote communication and how you can get the most out of your team regardless of where they are working from.
- Use a Project Management Tool: Staying in sync while remote is a challenge for teams of any size and that’s where project management tools can be so useful. Using a platform like Jira to track and measure progress is a great way to keep everyone in the loop – and to plan what everyone is doing.
- Be Intentional with Video Conferencing: Video calls have become the de facto method for team meetings and they can be incredibly useful when they’re done well. But you also don’t want to overdo it – because it can lead to fatigue. Be intentional about when you meet and what you meet about – to ensure that it’s a good use of everyone’s time and that it accomplishes something meaningful. When this happens, you can get a lot out of these sessions.
- Be Proactive About Staying Aligned: When people are working remotely, it’s easy to find that the company can stray a bit from the mission – because people can unintentionally go off on their own path. That’s why it’s so important to nurture a regular routine and process for coming together and aligning the strategic goals and objectives wherever possible. Don’t assume that people will ask for it, but rather make it something that is just part and parcel of how you work. That’s how you keep everyone on the same page and pulling in the same direction.
- Meet Up in Person: Just because you have a remote team doesn’t mean that you should forget about in-person meetups altogether. There’s something very powerful about bringing everyone together so people can get to know the human behind the screen and bond over what makes each person tick. Try to prioritize in-person meetups whenever possible, but ideally one every 3-6 months if it’s possible. These moments where everyone comes together can make a big difference for team morale and that goes a long way when it comes to achieving your company goals.
- Instant Communication: Nowadays, within a remote working culture, leaders needs to reensure how to communicate with the team effectively and bring more productivity to work. For this teams now use very efficitent tools like Slack, Miicrosoft teams, Skype chats which helps to keep instant and synchronus communication between teams that helps to build trust and productivity.
Those are just a few of the components of effective remote communication – but if you get these right you’ll find that you have much happier, healthier, and more productive employees.
None of this happens by accident though, so put in the time and effort to be proactive here. That’s how you build a highly effective remote organization.
