Digital Solutions that Promote a Proactive & Sustainable Approach

The Ohio State University understands its responsibility toward society and a sustainable tomorrow. Aware of it having one of the largest campuses in the US turned to Engie + Sunflower Lab for the creation of a mobile application that would help reduce its carbon footprint. Power Packed Features

From bifurcating energy consumption to real-time updates, badges & events, one app can change the world. With an interactive user design & aesthetically appealing interface, reducing our carbon footprint was never this easy!

Understanding Energy Consumption Department-wise

The application’s main purpose was so that users could be the change by actively monitoring their energy consumption and conservation. Through proactive measures like using solar power, they could help in reducing the total energy consumed through the realization of how much energy was expended throughout departments.

Shows Real-time Energy Consumed Statistics

The total energy consumed for the present and previous day can be viewed as well as the score of the percentage of consumption i.e., whether it has increased or decreased. The application also indicates how many smartphones were charged versus the equivalence of that much energy as equivalent to a tree. Thus, students can see energy consumed versus saved.

Events and Prizes to Promote Environmental Awareness

Since the application is built to aid students in moving towards sustainability it features events that can be RSVPed with prizes like ‘Pizza’ parties. Along with details of the ongoing event tips for better energy saving are also featured to promote awareness through the use of the app. The event participant headcount and buildings are also listed.

Staying in Sync with the News with Energy Conservation

Students prefer mobile applications and so when the university wanted to improve student participation towards reducing their carbon footprint, it realized an on-the-go app was the need for the hour. With events, badges, energy-saving tips, conservation tracking & Ohio state news, the app offers more than mere energy statistics & thus, is engaging.

“This partnership positions us as an international leader in energy and sustainability and further strengthens Ohio State as a national flagship public research university”
